Chisinau, Dec 31 /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) urges all educational institutions in Moldova to implement effective measures to save energy consumption, in the context of the state of emergency declared throughout the country for a period of 60 days.
Thus, the MEC recommends to turn off the lighting of building facades and decorative holiday installations, such as New Year's lights, and to save the use of electricity and heat by turning off equipment and lighting in unused halls. Another recommendation aims to reduce the temperature in schools by 1-2 degrees Celsius, while maintaining the necessary comfort in classrooms.
School managers are asked to inform teachers, pupils and parents about the need to save energy.
Since 16 December, a 60-day state of emergency has been set up throughout Moldova in connection with potential risks of energy shortages. In this context, the authorities have launched a broad information campaign on the need to save energy.
