Chisinau, 31 December /MOLDPRES/ - The needed amount for the consumption of electric energy of Moldova (right bank of Dniester) in January 2025 will be supplied with local production and with import from Romania. The Energocom stock company made statements to this effect today.

According to the company, the heating stations from Chisinau and Balti will generate over 127,000 MWh, which accounts for about 28 per cent of the consumption.

Another 46,000 MWh or about 10 per cent is to be renewable energy, both from installations with fixed tariff established by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) and from the ones on the free market. The sources of renewable energy, however, depend on the weather conditions and cannot be counted as safe and continuous sources, Energocom said.

The rest of 62 per cent will represent imports from Romania, of which the biggest share will be the energy purchased on the Romanian exchange OPCOM. According to Energocom, over 178,000 MWh (equivalent to 39 per cent of the needs) is to be bought on OPCOM and based on bilateral contracts – another 105,000 MWh (23 per cent).

„Energocom looked for the best contracts for the consumers of Moldova, taking into account the different consumption for day/night, working day/day-off, as well as  taking into consideration the bids of prices,’’ the company informed.

Thus, the data unveiled by Energocom shows that the Kuchurgan power station (MGRES) will no longer deliver electric energy to the right bank of Dniester starting from 1 January 2025.

Gazprom on 28 December notified the daughter company, which it controls, Moldovagaz, that it would no longer deliver natural gas as of 1 January 2025, 08:00, (Moscow time).

Emergency state was established all over Moldova starting from 16 December for a 60-day period, given potential risks of insufficiency of energy resources.
