Chisinau, 2 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Energocom and Moldovagaz stock companies today informed that they were willing to provide assistance to the Tiraspoltransgaz company in organizing the procurement of natural gas on any European platform, based on market conditions, in order to provide the residents from the left bank of Dniester with energy resources in the present crisis situation.
The acting president of the Moldovagaz Administrative Board, Vadim Ceban, sent a letter to this effect to the leadership of the Tiraspoltransgaz Ltd Company. Under the document, the natural gas can be delivered through diverse alternative routes up to the border with Moldova, based on an agency agreement with the Tiraspoltransgaz Company.
The letter also reads that, because of the impossibility of the registration of the Moldovagaz Company as participant on the gas market from the European countries, the enterprise concluded a proper agency contract with the Energocom stock company.
Within the agreement, on 31 December 2024, in testing regime, the purchasing of natural gas was successfully accomplished for Moldovagaz on the platform Balkan Gas Hub, Bulgaria. The quantity of gas procured was of 240 MWh, which was transported through the Trans-Balkan corridor of pipelines via Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine up to the Causeni interconnection point at Moldova’s border.
Energocom noted that the procurement carried out proved that, from the commercial and logistic viewpoints, the alternative route was possible for supplying the Transnistrian region with gas.
On 28 December, the Gazprom giant took a decision to limit, starting from 1 January 2025, the providing of natural gas to Moldova up to a volume of 0 cubic metres day.
The Moldovagaz stock company said that it had taken note of the Gazprom’s decision. Moldovagaz stressed that it had contracted the needed volume of gas, which will fully supply the consumption on the right bank of Dniester till late March 2025.
