Chisinau, Jan 2 /MOLDPRES/- Energocom company announced today that it has covered 100% of the electricity needs for 3 January.
The company noted that unlike 2 January, for Friday, January 3, electricity consumption is expected to increase by 10%.
"Even so, Energocom managed to reserve commercial capacity at the border with Romania to cover the consumption needs," Energocom announced.
Thus, in addition to the local production from the Chisinau and Balti thermal power plants, local renewable energy sources, the rest of the electricity will be purchased from imports and on the stock exchange.
As of January 1, 2025, MGRES/Cuciurgan power plant will no longer supply electricity to the right bank of the Dniester, after Gazprom announced the cessation of gas deliveries.
Under these circumstances, Chisinau authorities announced that in January 2025, the electricity consumption needs of the Republic of Moldova (right bank of the Dniester river) will be supplied by local production and imports from Romania. Thus, according to forecasts, the thermal power plants in Chisinau and Balti will provide about 28% of consumption. Another 10% or so would be renewable energy. The remaining 62% of electricity needs will be imported from Romania.
