Chisinau, Jan 3 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova's electricity consumption for 2 January was fully covered. For today, January 3, the necessary volume of electricity for the right bank is also ensured, even though a 10 percent increase in consumption is expected, the government's communication department has reported.

For 2 January, the entire necessary volume of electricity was covered from domestic sources and import from Romania, after Moldova stopped receiving energy from Cuciurgan power plant as of 1 January. An increase of more than 6 times is recorded in the production of energy from renewable sources.

In particular, the energy sources used on 2 January were as follows:

Electricity import (RO) - 48.22%
Termoelectrica - 30.88%
Renewable energy -15.31%
CET-Nord- 4.43%

State Enterprise NHE Costești - 1.16%.

Today's electricity consumption is expected to increase by 10%, and Energocom has already reserved enough commercial capacity at the Romanian border to cover the consumption needs for 3 January.

At the same time, citizens are urged to consume energy efficiently and rationally, especially during the peak hours of 09:00-11:00 and 18:00-23:00, in order to ensure the stability of the energy system.

In both the natural gas and thermal energy sectors, no breakdowns or incidents were recorded on January 2, 2025.

On the left bank, MGRES/ Cuciurgan power plant has switched to coal-fired operation and covers the region's electricity needs. The available coal stocks are enough for 30 to 50 days. Police, medical and emergency services are ready to provide support to people who will need help. The central authorities are in constant contact with the mayors of the localities affected by the disconnections to exchange information on the situation in the region.
