Chisinau, Jan 5 /MOLDPRES/- Specialists have presented recommendations for choosing winter decorations. They concern the way of purchase, installation, connection, as well as compliance with safety measures to avoid incidents.

Tatiana Frunza, head of the Consumer and Business Environment Information Department of the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection (ISSPNPC), emphasized that people are urged not to remove or install the lamps when the garland is connected to the power supply network. Also, the garland should not be connected to the mains in a packed state.

Economic agents are obliged to demonstrate to consumers, upon their request, how to use the products sold.

"The consumer is entitled to ask the seller to provide the declaration of conformity. If it is missing, the product is presumed not to be in conformity. Failure to provide the information is punishable by a fine of up to 6,900 lei," said Frunza.

Specialists recommend buying electric lights only from authorized places, and for any non-conformity occurring during the warranty period you can ask for the product to be repaired or replaced. In cases where economic agents refuse to respect consumer rights, citizens can lodge a complaint with the ISSPNPC.

The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Liliana Pușcașu, said that citizens should be careful when placing decorations.

"They should be placed as far away as possible from fire sources such as stoves and fireplaces. At night, garlands should be unplugged. It is important to ensure that young children do not have access to the sockets where they are plugged in," Pușcașu said.

In at-risk situations, citizens are urged to contact 112.
