Chisinau, Jan. 6 /MOLDPRES/- Owners of 16 individual houses in rural areas will get financial support to implement energy efficiency measures and thus reduce the energy bills. The launch of the process of allocation of financial incentives was announced today by the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED).
Beneficiaries will be able to use the money for the installation of heating plants based on solid biofuels, thermal insulation of exterior walls, roof and basement of the house, as well as modernization or installation of a domestic water heating system.
Homeowners will also be able to improve or modernize lighting, replace doors and windows, and upgrade heating systems. Depending on the work selected, beneficiaries will be able to reduce their annual energy consumption by up to 50%.
The selected households received energy audit reports, which allowed them to apply for funding for the energy efficiency works through the Residential Energy Efficiency Fund (FEERM). The financial support granted by CNED is 95% of the total eligible investment amount, while the beneficiary's contribution is 5%. The energy audit reports were prepared with the support of GIZ Moldova, within the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in the Republic of Moldova project.
The total amount of allocated financial incentives is about 5.7 million lei, including 3 million lei allocated in the form of grants from the FEERM budget and 2.7 million lei financial allocations from the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund.
FEERM is a national program, with a budget of 1.4 billion lei, designed to finance energy rehabilitation projects for housing in the Republic of Moldova. The program supports both multi-storey blocks and individual households, aiming at improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions in the energy sector.
