Four settlements from eastern Moldova district supplied with natural gas

Chisinau, 6 January /MOLDPRES/ - The settlements Cosnita, Pohrebea, Dorotcaia and Parata from the eastern Dubasari district are supplied with natural gas at the moment. An MP of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Roman Rosca, has made statements to this effect.

The lawmaker said that, although the settlements are connected to the energy infrastructure from the left bank of Dniester, decision-makers had found a solution to deliver natural gas to settlements which are under Moldova’s constitutional control. ‘’The deliveries will be possible as long as there is enough pressure in the gas pipelines of the energy infrastructure from the left bank of Dniester. This solution was possible, given that these settlements pay their invoices to Moldovagaz,’’ Rosa noted.

According to the quoted source, the settlements from the Security Zone, which are subordinated to Chisinau, but which pay their gas invoices directly to the Tiraspoltransgaz Company, were disconnected from gas supply.

The MP also said that the National Commission for Emergency Situations was elaborating a string of actions, in order to support the settlements from the Security Zone which are under the constitutional control.

Starting from 1 January 2025, the Russian gas has no longer been transiting Ukraine and the Russian giant Gazprom has not been delivering natural gas to Moldova, thus infringing the contractual provisions. The Russian gas was used on the left bank of Dniester, including for the production of electric energy at the Kuchurgan power station. Moldova’s authorities manage to provide the necessary quantity of energy to the right bank of Dniester and proposed assistance to the districts on the left bank of Dniester. According to information from the government’s Crisis Cell, the Transnistrian region faces an insufficiency of electric energy, which prompts the local authorities to make disconnections lasting four hours per day.
