PHOTO Incident at Chisinau International Airport: components of explosive object detected during processing of parcels

Chisinau, 8 January /MOLDPRES/ - The components of an explosive object on 7 January were detected at the Chisinau International Airport, during the processing of parcels. The intervention of employees of the technical and criminalist centre and legal expertise was immediately demanded on the spot; they identified and defused the suspect object.   

Border Police employees, jointly with customs representatives discovered an object resembling a toy with the shape of a car, perceived as having components of an explosive object.  

„The object was stopped in the X-ray scanning device. Due to the professionalism and quick intervention, the situation was managed in full safety, without endangering the work of the Airport, passengers or the Airport’s staff. At the moment, all passengers are in safety and the activity of the Chisinau International Airport is carried out in normal conditions,’’ the Border Police said.   

All measures needed were carried out, in order to establish the circumstances of the incident.
