Chisinau, 8 January /MOLDPRES/ - The government’s Crisis Cell informs that the consumption of electric energy for 7-8 January was fully provided for the right bank of Dniester, with no failure contracts needed, the government’s communication has reported.

The consumption of electric energy for 7 January on the territory of Moldova placed on the right bank of Dniester registered a drop of 22.16 per cent against the day before; thus, the overall consumption reached 11,772,000 kWh, fully covered based on commercial contracts.

For 8 January, the overall consumption of electric energy will be approximately equal to the one recorded on 7 January and the Energocom stock company has already reserved enough commercial capacity at the border with Romania, in order to cover the consumption needs.

The sources used for providing the consumption for 7 January were: Termoelectrica stock company – 34.06 per cent, CET-Nord stock company – 5.05 per cent, State Enterprise Costesti Hydro-electric power station – 1.36 per cent, renewable energy – 14.36 per cent and the balance of import of electric energy (Moldova/Romania) – 45.17 per cent.

The Kuchurgan power station (MGRES), which works on coal, further provides electric energy on the left bank of Dniester. Given that an acute deficit of energy is registered, fan disconnections of 8 hours per day are made, in order to avoid the overloading of the network. The Tiraspoltransgaz Company has earlier disconnected from the natural gas network more public institutions from the settlements controlled by the constitutional authorities, including schools, hospitals and cultural institutions.

Following a decision approved by the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE), the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) delivered seven electric generators for more social units of the Anenii Noi and Dubasari districts. Three electric generators were carried by rescuers to the Cocieri settlement, Dubasari district, where they will ensure the work of the system of water supply of this settlement, as well as of the Garofita kindergarten and crèche. Another four devices were delivered to the Varnita settlement, Anenii Noi district, in order to ensure the work of the Romanita kindergarten, Varnita Theoretical Lyceum, Asclepio multifunctional community centre and the headquarters of the Varnita village mayoralty.

As for the natural gas sector, the pressures in all transport segments managed by the Vestmoldtransgaz Ltd Company are within the limits of the functional parameters. They vary between 32.2 kg/square cm and 57.4 kg/square cm. The situation stays stable also in the thermal energy sector: at the moment, all generation sources are working; no damages or risks are recorded, which can influence the good work of the equipment of generation, transport and distribution of thermal energy.

Given the forecast of the air temperatures outdoors and its increase for the next days, starting from 7 January, 00:00, the energy block No 3 was disconnected from the Source 1 (CET2), with its reconnection on 11 January, 00:00, without the decreasing of the present electric charge.

The Russian giant Gazprom suspended the delivery of natural gas to Moldova beginning with 1 January 2025. Given a potential humanitarian crisis in the Transnistrian region because of the non-observance by Russia of the contract on the supply of natural gas to the consumers from the left bank of Dniester, Moldova has been in an emergency state beginning with 16 December 2024.
