Chisinau, 9 January /MOLDPRES/ - Charge d’affaires of Russia’s Embassy in Chisinau Aleksandr Andreyev today was summoned at the headquarters of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), given the recent misinformation launched by the Embassy of Russia on the energy crisis in the Transnistrian region.
According to a press release issued by MAE, at the meeting, the representative of Russia’s Embassy was informed about the clear-cut and firm position of Moldova on the unacceptable character of the false statements, aimed at undermining the political and economic stability of the country.
„The Foreign Affairs Ministry emphasized that the responsibility for energy crisis in the Transnistrian region lied exclusively with Russia and the Gazprom giant, which ruled to cease the deliveries of gas, contrary to the contractual obligations,’’ the press release reads.
At the same time, the Ministry said that it had repeatedly asked the Embassy to cease the campaign of misinformation, manipulation with deeds and creation of false stories, which harm even more the bilateral relations and worsen the regional situation.
The Embassy of Russia has earlier tried to transfer the responsibility for a crisis which Moscow itself triggered. The Embassy accused the Moldovan authorities and the ones of Ukraine of having been responsible for the situation on the left bank of Dniester.
