Moldovan PM has working meeting with representatives of biggest companies of agro-food sector

Chisinau, 9 January /MOLDPRES/ - The importance of adjusting the consumption of energy to the level of enterprises and the need of investments in the energy efficiency have been discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean with representatives of the associations of producers of meat, milk and bread products, the government’s communication department reported.    

According to the PM, in the context of the challenges triggered by the energy crisis, the maintaining of the competitiveness and the combating of inflation stay the basic tasks and, on the long term, the adaptation to the market price of electric energy is priority.  

„Our goal is to have a transition period, during which we will invest in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, so that we spend less. Till then, we will back the food industry through short- and long-term measures. We should not forget that the present crisis represents a challenge, as well as an opportunity to transform our economy into a more efficient and more sustainable one,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.   

The prime minister referred to the programme of compensations for the business environment, which will be announced on the next period and touched upon the mechanism of state assistance for investments in Moldova’s industry. It is meant for the support of the producers who are to modernize their businesses, including in order to enhance the energy efficiency.  

The industry’s representatives brought for discussion the need to subsidize projects on setting solar panels, of energy audits, as well as to revise the customs taxes for the raw material imported. At the same time, the participants in the meeting pointed out the measures they had taken for saving electric energy at the enterprises which they lead, among which the setting of sensors of automatic ceasing of supply with electricity and replacement of the current lamps by LED ones.
