Several projects dedicated to sustainable development of local communities to be implemented with UN support

Chisinau, Jan 13 /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will collaborate to implement projects dedicated to the sustainable development of local communities. This strategic objective was formalized at the end of last week with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, and Chief of IOM Moldova Mission Ester Ruiz de Azua.
The partnership aims to improve living conditions for Moldovan citizens by carrying out projects aimed at modernizing local infrastructure, including public facilities, water and sanitation systems, access to energy. IOM Moldova will also assist in attracting foreign investment and implementing development projects.
The IOM Mission to Moldova, opened in 2001, works in four main areas: migration and development; prevention and protection (anti-trafficking); migration management; facilitated migration.
