As much as 3.5 billion lei invested in Moldova's national economy within 373 governmental programme on encouraging investments

Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ - Over 3.5 billion lei has been invested in the national economy by those 570 beneficiaries of the 373 governmental programme. About 2.4 billion lei of this sum represents the value of the loans with the compensation of the interest provided by the state for the carrying out of those 750 investment projects, the government’s communication department has reported.     

The investments support the development of the companies where about 8,400 people are employed and another 1,969 jobs are estimated to be created in the near future.   

The 373 programme is accessed by enterprises from a wide range of activity sectors. The biggest investments were made in the sector of production and providing of energy, which attracted about 45 per cent of the overall value of the investment projects. The carriage and depositing represented another important field, with a share of 16 per cent, similar to the processing industry. Investments are also made in the fields of health and social assistance, agriculture, forestry and fishery.

The geographical distribution of the investment projects covers all Moldovan districts, with values proportional to the number of companies in each region. The biggest investments were registered in the Centru region and the Chisinau city, with over 1.2 billion lei for each region. In the North region, the investments reached 686 million lei and in the South region – 185 million lei. In the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, the value of the investment projects is of 120 million lei. The average value of the loans is of 3.2 million lei.     

The 373 programme was launched in July 2023 and in the spring of 2024 the government extended the access to financing and simplified the procedures. The maximal sum of the loan was increased from 15 million to 40 million lei; also, the cabinet allowed the financing of the purchasing of raw material necessary for the production or providing of services, within the limit of 30 per cent of the investment project’s value. At the same time, the maximal guarantee ceiling grew from 40 to 80 per cent of the loan’s value through the Loan Guarantee Fund.    

Following these changes, the investments of Moldovan companies increased three quarters in a row in 2024, according to data put out by the National Statistics Bureau.
