Chisinau, 14 January /MOLDPRES/ - The education and research minister today came up with details on the situation of the schools hit by the energy crisis on the left bank of Dniester. The official said that the things were permanently changing, noting that a new meeting with representatives of the concerned institutions would be held next week, in order to decide whether the schools will continue their activity online or whether they enter vacation.

„The situation is different. In all, we have 18 institutions hit by this situation. Some of them are on the left bank, the others on the right bank of Dniester. Depending on their specific circumstances, they opted for diverse solutions: some of them have independent boilers for heating working on pellets and they continue working in this regime; the others have access to gas at the expense of the reserves which exist in the network at least till the date of 20 January. At the same time, we really have a number of institutions which have already switched to the online education. We agreed on meeting again with these institutions in the beginning of the next week, in order to establish whether we continue the online education or we make a break for a vacation, and will subsequently come back with recoveries at the expense of Saturdays or at the expense of the Easter holidays. We will determine this option next week, as the things are permanently changing. We will have a better clarity also as regards the supply with gas on 20 January, as there are certain signals on which we will have clarity on 20 January,’’ Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said at a news conference today.

Dan Perciun on 13 January had a meeting with the headmasters of the schools hit by the energy crisis on the left bank of Dniester and the heads of the education departments from the districts affected. The managers of the education institutions unveiled the conditions in which the classes were held and signaled the problems faced. They also emphasized the priority needs, in order to ensure the continuity of the education process.

According to data by the Education and Research Ministry, eight out of those 18 education institutions from the settlements affected, including ten from the Security Zone, work online and another ten institutions which have generators hold classes with physical presence.
