Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community from Moldova (ARBOM) has launched a new social campaign with a deeply emotional impact for supporting the ethnic Bulgarians. Thus, starting from 1 October, 60 warm meals will be weekly provided to elderly people, as well as to the low-income ones from Taraclia. This project was initiated and backed by the president of the ARBOM Council, Plamen Milanov, and is, at the same time, a first-ever event in the district from the southern region when such actions are carried out.
„The Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community from Moldova launches a new campaign, a new project, a unique project in the Taraclia district. We will daily provide free of charge warm meals to the elderly, socially vulnerable people, as well as to ones with special needs,’’ the ARBOM director, Alexandr Borimecicov, said at the launch of the campaign.
The news about the new social campaign launched by the Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community was quickly spread in the Taraclia city.
„This is something priceless! This is a correct, human and welcome action,’’ said a woman pensioner, who was quite happy after receiving the package with food.
„I am happy that there are such receptive people and who take care of elderly persons,’’ another woman said, who came to take the meal for herself, as well as for her sick husband.
Some of the warm meals provided weekly will be delivered by social assistants to the elderly or sick people, who cannot move to the Social Assistance and Protection Department.
„The first location where the meals will be distributed will be the headquarters of the Social Assistance and Protection Department; the second location will be in the area of the School No 3 and the third location – in the upper district of the city,’’ the head of the Community Social Assistance Service from Taraclia, Ivana Cafidji, said.
For instance, Sofia Chiose is a social assistant and takes care of 10 people. Among them, there are elderly persons, as well as with special needs.
„There are two persons who come to me independently to receive the meals, while as for the others, I deliver. We thank ARBOM for this option. The elderly people whom we help will be very happy!’’ the woman said.
„ARBOM provided assistance to over 1,000 people from the Taraclia district and the social effect of the recently launched project is that we provide warm meals for free to elderly people. We are the only organization to carry out such actions for pensioners, for the people with special needs, as well as for numerous families,’’ Borimecicov also said. She repeatedly expressed gratitude that the Association he leads had managed, this time again, to be in the service of the ethnic Bulgarians of the region.
The campaign is backed by ARBOM’s partner, Association for Support of Community Initiatives and Sport (A.S.I.C.S.). In the last two years, more than 113,000 warm meals have been provided to beneficiaries from Chisinau, Straseni and Soroca through A.S.I.C.S.
