Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ - More than 1 million 143,000 electors exercised their right to vote at the presidential elections and the republican constitutional referendum till 16:00. The figure accounts for 39.4 per cent of the number of votes included in the electoral lists. The CEC head noted that, at 15:00, out of those 1,007,119 electors who came to vote, 907,594 voters participated in the republican constitutional referendum, which accounts for 32.11 per cent.
„As for the rate of participation in the referendum, the data is collected in the territory. The counting is made manually, through the calculation of the signatures from the electoral lists and are transmitted by phone or email,’’ Angelica Caraman said.
Caraman stressed that, in Tokyo, Japan, the voting process had ended already. ‘’Sixty nine electors expressed their right to vote there. At 16:00, the voting process ended in China, where 73 people voted. The other polling stations from abroad work, except for four ones: one in Canada and three ones in the United States. They will start working at 17:00,’’ Angelica Caraman also said.
Also, the electoral authorities report a massive presence of citizens who are waiting to vote at some polling stations in France, Italy, Turkey, Romania, Belgium, Russia. Thus, CEC provided all polling stations from abroad with a sufficient number of ballot papers, for all electors to be able to exercise their right to vote.
Also, the General Police Inspectorate informed CEC about the registration of 74 infringements of the electoral process. It is about the photographing of the ballot paper – 14 cases, deterioration of ballot papers – five cases, taking out ballot papers from the polling station – one case in Ialoveni, banned electoral agitation – 10 cases, unauthorized electoral posting – six cases, organized carriage of voters – eight cases, reasonable suspicion of corrupting voters – six situations, presence of more people in the voting booth – two cases, another over 20 cases which regard diverse incidents.
