Chisinau, Nov. 6 /MOLDPRES/- Statements coming from the Russian Federation on the elections in the Republic of Moldova are completely lacking credibility. This is how government spokesman Daniel Voda commented on Russia's criticism of the presidential elections in Moldova.
"It is true that the statements coming from the Russian Federation regarding the elections in Moldova are completely lacking credibility, this is obvious, especially in the context that over the years Russia has actively intervened and directed resources to misinform, to manipulate public opinion in Moldova. Such allegations are not only hypocritical, but also an attempt in the public eye to destabilize democracy in the Republic of Moldova", Daniel Voda said after today's cabinet meeting, in response to journalists' questions about the attacks from the Russian Federation on democracy in Moldova.
Daniel Voda said "before trying to give us lessons in democracy, it would be better for these officials to look in the mirror", as "all the features and descriptions of the past few days are reflected in their own behavior".
He emphasized that Moldova and Moldovans remain united and have chosen the path of democracy and European integration, despite any challenges and attempts of interference from outside.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on November 5 that several Moldovan citizens were blocked from exercising their right to vote and that the presidential elections in Moldova were not democratic.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova reacted to these statements today, pointing out that the statements of the Russian authorities about the elections in our country do not correspond to reality. According to diplomats in Chisinau, the elections in the Republic of Moldova met all national and international standards, a fact confirmed by the preliminary reports of international election observation missions.
