Residents from seven settlements of Moldova elect mayors

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ - The citizens with right to vote from seven settlements of Moldova elect their mayors today. The local polls are held in the Causeni city, Iliciovca commune, northern Floresti district, Boscana commune, central Criuleni district, Arionesti village, northern Donduseni district, Antonesti commune, southern Cantemir district, Clocusna village, northern Ocnita district and of the Popestii de Jos village, northern Drochia district.
According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), over 25,000 electors are expected to vote. Those 15 polling stations were opened at 7:00 and will work till 21:00.
For these elections, CEC printed 25,242 ballot papers for these elections, of which 20,195 are in the Romanian language and 5,047 – in Russian. The ballot will be monitored by 25 national observers accredited by CEC.
Thirty eight candidates were registered for the new local elections. Twenty eight of them were nominated by political parties and another 10 ones run as independents.
CEC reiterates that the voters who for health reasons or other well-grounded reasons, cannot come to the precincts of the polling station, can ask for the mobile ballot box. The applications were to be approved by the electoral bureau till 14:00 only upon the presentation of a medical certificate.
