Prime Minister urged Romanian citizens from Moldova to vote in Romania's presidential elections

Chisinau, Nov 23 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean has urged Romanian citizens from the Republic of Moldova to vote in Romania's presidential elections. The voting process will take place over three days, from November 22 to 24, and Moldovans with Romanian citizenship can cast their vote at the 59 polling stations opened across the country.

The prime minister said we must be responsible citizens and go to vote. "I would like to invite all Romanian citizens in the Republic of Moldova to go to vote. Romania is a very important partner for the Republic of Moldova. Romania has always helped us and intervened in the most difficult moments. I believe that we have an obligation as citizens to participate in these elections. I also said the same thing when we had to go to the polls for the Europarliamentary elections. We must be responsible citizens and go to the polls", said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

The 59 polling stations open in our country for the Romanian presidential elections will be open until 21.00 today. Citizens will also be able to vote from 07.00 to 21.00 tomorrow.

Thus, 17 polling stations have been opened in the northern region of the Republic of Moldova, 34 polling stations in the central region, of which 16 in the city of Chisinau, and eight polling stations in the southern region.

In order to be able to vote in the presidential elections, citizens are required to hold one of the following documents: identity card, electronic identity card, provisional identity card, identity card, identity card, diplomatic passport, electronic diplomatic passport, service passport, electronic service passport, simple passport, electronic simple passport, temporary simple passport, military service booklet (military school students).

Data of the Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania show that 104,089 Romanian citizens living in the diaspora turned out to vote from the opening of the polls, from Friday at 12.00 noon to Saturday at 3.00 pm. 16,437 people voted in Moldova.

The General Inspectorate of Police announced that police officers are on duty to provide support in ensuring public order and guarding polling stations.

In the first round of the presidential elections, Romanians have to choose between 14 candidates, two of whom, receiving the highest number of votes, will contest the runoff for the highest office in the state.
