Chisinau, Dec. 10 /MOLDPRES/- Ten localities in the country will be able to renovate their territorial or volunteer fire and rescue posts with the support of a project financed by the European Commission. The deadline for applications is December 24, 2024.
The renovation works will be carried out under EU4 Resilient Moldova - Safe State, Strong Communities (EU4MR) project, a 1.5-year project funded by the European Commission through the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments and implemented by Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova. It is being launched as part of the European Union's support to the Republic of Moldova in the context of Moldova's intensifying EU integration process and decreasing geopolitical security in the region, aggravated by Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
The overall objective and expected outcome of the EU4MR project is to increase Moldova's resilience to emergencies and potential security threats. "To this end, the capacities of state institutions to detect and counter potential emergencies and security threats will be strengthened. Also, the resilience of local communities will be enhanced by stimulating local development opportunities that preserve social cohesion and increase confidence in the European path of the Republic of Moldova as a perspective for modernization and development of the country," a project press release reads.
One of the components of the project provides for the improvement of the civil protection system at local level through the renovation of 10 territorial or volunteer fire and rescue posts (PTSP/ PSPV) in communities, which will allow better conditions for the organization and functioning of these primary intervention units in emergency or exceptional situations.
The successful implementation of the project will strengthen the network of PSPVs in the country from 25 to 35 units, increase their capacities by equipping them with advanced intervention and communication equipment, and increase the professionalism of the PSPV volunteer firefighters.
If, at the date of submission of the application, the locality has signed cooperation agreements on the activity of the PTSP or PSPV, or is in the process of voluntary amalgamation with a neighboring locality, the population of all localities that are party to the agreements will be taken into account.
