Three projects of energy community in Moldova to be implemented till 2027

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - Three pilot projects of renewable energy will be implemented in communities of Moldova till the end of the 2027 year. This has been the focus of a workshop dedicated to the energy communities of Moldova titled, Development of capacities in the sector of technical factors and requirements needed, organized by the German Energy Agency.
The event was held in the context of the promotion and development of initiatives of renewable energy locally, in order to back the energy transition and to actively involve the energy communities in the production and rational use of energy.
„The energy communities represent a crucial element of the transition to the green energy, providing practical integrated solutions for reducing the energy vulnerability , diminution of the costs borne by consumers and citizens’ active involvement in the process of production and consumption of energy,’’ a state secretary at the Energy Ministry, Carolina Novac, said.
According to the official, the Energy Ministry has more achievements as regards the development of energy communities and promotion of renewable energy sources. ‘’The major achievements in this field deal with the amendments of the legislation, in order to introduce a clear legal framework for the creation of energy communities. For its part, the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) worked out a regulation which is to be adopted till the end of this year, which sets clear-cut rules and procedures for the management of these communities,’’ Carolina Novac also said.
„With the support of the United nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), till the end of the 2027 year, three pilot projects will be implemented, aimed at proving the economic, social and technical validity of the renewable energy communities, providing applicable models for implementation nationally,’’ Novac added.
For long term, the Energy Ministry prioritizes the improvement of the legislative framework, in order to remove the obstacles and develop community energy projects and to optimize the administrative procedures. At the same time, according to Novac, the government reaffirms its commitment to facilitate the access to dedicated resources, training programmes and mechanisms of support, thus encouraging the active participation of all actors involved in the consolidation of the energy communities. ‘’We are on the right way, in order to build a more sustainable, more accessible and more efficient energy system for all Moldova’s citizens,’’ Carolina Novac also said.
Attending the workshop dedicated to the energy communities were representatives of local authorities from Volintiri, Nisporeni, Tomai, Filipeni, Zubresti, Putintei, Straseni, Mandresti, as well as representatives of key institutions from the national energy sector, Energy Ministry, National Centre for Sustainable Energy, operators of the energy distribution system and international development partners, as well as representatives development partners and representatives of UNDP, USAID, German Agency for International Development and diverse NGOs, which support projects on renewable energy and the development of energy communities.
