Chisinau, Dec. 17 /MOLDPRES/- Equipment necessary for the modernization of the Chisinau Power Station has been delivered in about 75%. The construction works were inspected on December 16 by Energy Ministry State Secretary Constantin Borosan, who called for their urgency.
Borosan discussed the progress of the works and the challenges related to the implementation of the project, in particular those of a technical nature, such as the purchase of the necessary equipment and the streamlining of internal processes. "The companies involved in carrying out the works will boost communication between key project entities," he said.
Director of the Consolidated Unit for Implementing and Monitoring Energy Projects (UCIPE) Ruslan Surugiu said that the equipment needed to carry out the modernization works at the Chisinau Power Station has been delivered in about 75%. Therefore, it is expected that all necessary works will be carried out urgently.
The modernization of the Chisinau 400/330 kV substation is part of a wide-ranging project to develop the power sector in the Republic of Moldova. The works, together with the extension of the Vulcănești power station, will strengthen the electricity connection with Romania and connect the Isaccea-Vulcănești-Chisinau 400 kV overhead power line to the energy infrastructure in the central part of the country, including Chisinau, bypassing the Moldovan thermoelectric power plant MGRES, located in the Transnistrian region.
The project is financed by the World Bank and implemented by the UCIPE.
