30 diaspora children participate in first edition of DOR de Tradiții program

Chisinau, Dec. 23 /MOLDPRES/- A number of 30 diaspora children are participating in the first edition of the governmental program DOR de Tradiții, which was inaugurated today. The program, under the Prime Minister's patronage, is dedicated to children and young people aged between 12 and 17 years, settled abroad, descendants of families originating from the Republic of Moldova.
For six days, participants will be involved in cultural and creative activities designed to give them an unforgettable experience and get acquainted with the traditions of winter holidays. The program includes meetings with artists, folk craftsmen, visits to museums and creative workshops.
According to the Diaspora Relations Office, the 30 children taking part in the current edition of the Program come from countries such as Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Greece, Great Britain, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Ukraine and Hungary.
The event is aimed at bringing diaspora children closer to the national traditions and culture through educational and interactive activities. These will help strengthen links with the cultural roots of the Republic of Moldova and facilitate the transmission of authentic traditions from generation to generation.
Launched for the first time this year, the DOR de Tradiții program responds to a growing interest of diaspora communities in maintaining emotional connection with the Republic of Moldova and preserving national values. Through this project, children and young people from the diaspora will have the opportunity to rediscover the essence of the traditions of their country of origin and reconnect with the cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova.
The program was open to teenagers aged 12-17, who have a basic conversational level of Romanian and an average level of comprehension. Participation is free of charge. All expenses are covered by the state budget and participants only pay for transportation to/from the Republic of Moldova and medical insurance.
