Chisinau, Dec 31 /MOLDPRES/- Bulgaria is ready to help Moldova if Russia cuts off gas supplies from 1 January 2025. Bulgaria's Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov announced about this in an answer to a question asked by BNR radio station.
The official recalled that the two countries have recently signed a memorandum to react in case of crisis. "We are in constant communication with the Moldovan Energy Ministry, so they can also rely on us. We are prepared to support them by providing them with access both to liquefied natural gas and through the state-owned supplier Bulgargaz, should they request this help," said Vladimir Malinov.
The Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria signed a Memorandum of Understanding in mid-November this year, which stipulates that the two countries will work together to ensure continuity of electricity and natural gas supplies and to manage possible crisis situations efficiently.
Gazprom on Sunday notified the daughter company it controls, Moldovagaz, that it will stop delivering natural gas as of January 1, 2025, 08:00 Moscow time, saying that Moldovagaz "does not consistently meet payment obligations."
